Idris Umar
Idris Umar (b.1975), residing in Kaduna, Nigeria, practiced various forms of art from childhood, later transitioning into self-taught calligraphy for a period of 20 years. In 2011, he started classical calligraphy training in Thuluth and Naskh scripts under the Master calligrapher, Yushaa Abdullah.
Idris was later awarded a license (ijaza) at the IRCICA Regional calligraphy Centre West Africa in Kaduna, Nigeria. He participated in the first edition of the Abuja International Calligraphy Exhibition organised by the IRCICA in 2018. Many of his works decorate local mosques and schools in Kaduna.
