Yushaa Abdullah
Yushaa (b. 1968) was born in Bauchi town, Nigeria. He started practicing Arabic calligraphy in 1989 as self taught artist, and sent samples of his work to the Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA) in 2004, where he was admitted in 2007 to study Thuluth and Naskh scripts under the tutorship of today’s great masters of Arabic calligraphy, Hasan Çelebi, Ferhat Kurlu and Davut Bektaş.
Yushaa graduated from the centre in 2013, and received his license from the above mentioned masters as the first African trained by the centre. Yushaa participated at the International Art exhibition organised by IOM, Istanbul in 2012, which was his first exhibition. He has since participated in various exhibitions in Pakistan, Kuwait, Malaysia, United Arab Emeirates and the United States.
