Hüseyin Kutlu

Hüseyin Kutlu

Born in 1949 in Konya, Turkey, Hüseyin Kutlu received his license in thuluth-naskh script from grand master calligrapher Hamid Aytaç and later studied taliq script under the supervision of Uğur Derman.

He worked as Imam at the Hekimoglu Ali Pasha Mosque between 1976-2002. To this end he worked on the revival and reconstruction of the tomb, the fountain, the library, the cemetery and the destroyed areas of the mosque.

After his retirement, with constant effort and endeavour he continued to teach the art of calligraphy and Ottoman Turkish at the Biksad Art Atelier. Producing more than a thousand calligraphic works including qitas and various original stacks, the works of the artist have been published in various albums and have made its way into the collections. Calligraphic works of Hüseyin Kutlu span across mosques wihin Turkey and around the world some of which include the Cambridge Central Mosque, Moscow Cathedral Mosque, Ashgabat Mosque, Sabancı Central Mosque, Şakirin Mosque, Tokyo Mosque to name a few.

Feyza Kutlu

Born in Konya, Turkey, Feyza (b. 1980) undertook her initial llumination training at the Destegül Fine Arts School between 1997-2003.

Thereafter, Feyza undertook advanced training in illumination under a leading illumination master, Dr Şehnaz Özcan, at the Illumination Department of the Applied Turkish-Islamic Arts Library in 2007.

Feyza received her illumination license in 2014 and continues her illumination training with Dr Şehnaz Özcan at the Library of Applied Turkish-Islamic Arts.
