Shuaib Sánchez

Shuaib Sánchez is a Murcia-born Spaniard. His journey began after a visit in 1983 to Fez where he discovered traditional Andalusian ceramics and thereafter his research and undertook training in traditional Andalusi ceramics.

He founded a ceramics workshop in 1983, and has been recovering and reproducing handcrafted decoration using traditional Al Andalus techniques from the IXth, XIIIth and XVth centuries ever since.

His company, Al-Yarrar, is best known for its unique, hand-thrown pieces featuring geometric and floral designs in rich polychrome, although it also specialises in Zillij style mosaics, tiles, and other ceramic accessories. In addition, they are experienced in creating tile friezes as architectural decorations and have refurbished Morisco houses using traditional materials and techniques.
