Inspired by the ornate mosques of Tehran which punctuate the night sky bringing an opulence and divine grace by using Persian geometry and colours, combining deep blues, rich turquoises, black and gold to capture the intense richness.

Textile: Habotai silk, hand-dyed with cold water dyes and appliquéd with hand coloured silk.
Biomorphic Pattern: Paints and silk dyes combined to generate the biomorphic pattern directly on to fabric.
Geometric Pattern: Laced with 24ct gold leaf and shell gold.

Raanaz Shahid
Award-winning contemporary artist Raanaz Shahid hails from Manchester, UK. Her South Asian and Islamic heritage fuels her love for art, which fuses Eastern and Western cultures.
Raanaz works closely with textiles and mixed-media, incorporating stonework, semi-precious stones, Swarovski crystals, pearls, geometry, biomorphic and Islamic patterns, with Arabic calligraphy and abstract design on silk, real gold, shell gold, velvet, mirror and glass.
Raanaz has worked on several exhibitions in the UK, including the Faith In Art exhibition, at the Craven Museum & Gallery in Skipton and her solo exhibition in Accrington. Gaining international recognition, several works were showcased at the World Art Show held in Dubai and later the Global Islamic Economic Summit. This was organised by Ahlan Art, in conjunction with Thomson Reuters & Dubai Chambers, with VIP guest His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Other works include commissions for actress Yasmin Karimi, on the packaging of her new hair care product range and international cricketer Shahid Afridi's charitable foundation to raise funds to fight against contaminated water in Pakistan.
Raanaz has been interviewed by BBC Radio Manchester and BBC Radio Derby on her work as an artist and also appeared on Islam Channel.
Her most recent exhibition was at the Muslim Lifestyle Expo held in Manchester where she exhibited for the first time. Raanaz’s biggest honour came earlier last year, when she was recognised at the 2016 British Muslim Awards, winning in the Arts and Culture Awareness category.
