Muhammad Hobe
South African born Muhammad Hobe graduated from the Waterfall Islamic Institute Johannesburg in 2004. During this period in his spare time he would often practice calligraphy and in 2007 whilst serving as a teacher he met Turkish calligrapher Hilal Kazan. She took a liking to his calligraphy and recommended that he study in Istanbul under a master. Muhammad Hobe subsequently moved to Istanbul and studied under the grand master of Arabic calligraphy Hasan Çelebi (shown below) from whom Muhammad received his license in Thuluth and Naskh scripts.
Muhammad currently lives in Istanbul where he is still studying and producing beautiful works of calligraphy.
