Seyit Ahmet Depeler
Already one of Turkey's most celebrated calligraphers, Seyit Ahmet Depeler (b. 1986, Konya, Turkey) is a modern master of the Thuluth and Diwani scripts. Seyit Ahmet Depeler began lessons in calligraphy in 1999 with master Tahir Güçlü following the encouragement of his grandfather Abdullah Riza who was also a calligrapher. He then began learning Thuluth with the calligraphy master Hüseyin Oksüz in 2000 and began lessons in Diwani and Jali Diwani from Fatih Özkafa at Selcuk University. He continues to study under various masters including Mehmed Özçay, Osman Özçay, Davut Bektaş in Istanbul.
The calligraphy on sale represents the perfect marriage of form and content. The meaning of the Qur'anic verses: ‘And to Him are you returned' is ingeniously complemented by the rotational movement of the composition as well as by the beautifully undulating flow of Depeler's Diwani.
